My Software 「我的軟件」 (2015– )
Combining personal narrative with photographs, My Software 「我的軟件」 began years ago as a therapeutic exercise — a way to process lifelong experiences of gender-based discrimination and violence that made it difficult for me to speak, both literally and figuratively. The photographs depict what I am calling pre– and post– traumatic vision: the work includes a mix of more straightforward “documents” intermingled with images that fixate on surfaces, reflecting states of dissociation. The texts toggle between past and present, recalling the temporal shifts that occur during therapy sessions. My Software 「我的軟件」 uses my experience of recovering from trauma to think more broadly about how we see, and how vision and imagination is shaped by family, society, and shared language and understanding.
