Money (2017)
This book-length project explores immigrant small business owners’ unsteady pursuit of the American dream. Money opens with entries from my mom’s journal during the 2008 financial crisis. The entries are a diligent documentation of the sudden decline of our family business, weather forecasts, stock market drops, and poll ratings. The second section consists of photographs I took of bank facades, vacated storefronts, allusions to capital in the built environment, Wall Street, the Trump Building, and imagery relating to crashes, financial and otherwise.
